MARSABIT 16TH APRIL 2018: Tension has rocked in Golbo ward of Moyale Sub County as the tribal clashes in Ethiopia look to affect relative peace achieved in Moyale over the past one year.
Angry locals in Kinisa blocked roads connecting Nana, Bute and Yabalo towns of Ethiopia to Moyale in protest of the killing of a middle aged man in Ethiopia. Vehicles plying the route were forced to turn back or seek alternative routes.
The situation escalated after a lorry knocked down and killed a lady as the driver tried to escape from the road block. The lorry managed to escape but was followed up and stopped by residents of Odda who had been tipped through phone calls.
The lorry was set ablaze by members of the affected community. The police managed to rescue the driver of the lorry though two people were shot in the process.
One of the injured persons who received a bullet to the chest is in critical condition and has been referred to Meru for specialized treatment. The other was shot in the leg and has since been discharged.
Golbo MCA Sheikh Bashir confirmed the incident and strongly condemned the heinous acts.

Moyale Sub-county DCC John Cheruyot has confirm that the situation has calm down and passengers are advised to use the route without fear.
