Residents of Marsabit County have been urged to coexist peacefully with each other.
Speaking during the Madaraka Day celebrations at the Moi Girls’ Marsabit High School grounds, Marsabit Deputy Governor Solomon Gubo said the lack of peace was negatively impacting on the region’s development and called for the establishment of dispute resolution mechanisms to address tribal conflicts.
“I would like to call upon all residents of Marsabit to live together in peace and harmony regardless of their tribe,” Mr. Gubo said.
The Deputy Governor further urged the security apparatus in the area to be proactive when dealing with the security situation in Marsabit.
“I want to call on the security apparatus to be proactive in dealing with the tribal skirmishes that have rocked the county and claimed over thirty lives since October 2018” The Deputy Governor added.
