MARSABIT, Kenya: Victoria Namunyak locally known as ‘Model Officer’, resolved to start sewing the masks to help stem the spread of deadly virus in her home county which had eight reported cases by 22rd July 2020.
Earlier today in her hometown of Laisamis, Nairibi village, The officer distribute over 2000 face masks and hands washing water buckets to the locals as one way to compliments the government in fight of pandemic virus in the country.
Four years ago Vicky aged 26, was deployed to The Isiolo GK Prison and during the pandemic she thought of assisting her colleagues in enforcing the dusk to dawn curfew.
Victoria spends at least three hours daily outside her house within the correctional facility, making the masks before she start her official duties after 3 month pandemic virus first invictant encounted in Kenya.
“I bought a sewing machine using my salary and started making masks after I realized as an officer that I had a role to play in curbing the virus in the country” Say’s Vicky.
Speaking to Medianorth the young officer urged the donors and well-wishers to help increase the production of face masks , also giving her sanitizers, water buckets since Marsabit County is vast and the lifestyle of the nomads makes them susceptible to the Corona virus.
The officer who had dreams of venturing into fashion had become the talk of the town for her great gesture.
