Residents of Yaa Garra in North Horr Sub-county, Marsabit county are counting losses after more than 50 camels died and other at risk of drying after drinking contaminated water.

According to the affected family, more than 100 camels were affected after drinking water in El-Hadi at a waterhole known to the residents as Tula.

Some families that lost their animals said the well has not been in use for the last two months.

A team of health and veterinary officers has been dispatched by the county government to visit the affected area to find out the root cause of the said deaths.

The affected families are calling upon the well-wishers for assistance since they have been striped-off their only source of livelihood and are facing poverty.
