MARSABIT, Kenya, Jun 6-A health officer in Laisamis Sub-County, Marsabit County was today sentenced to life imprisonment for defiling a minors in his house.
George Lemayan alias Abubakar was found guilty of on Thursday of four counts, defilment
of young-orphan girl and committing an indecent act on minors at by the Marsabit Resident Magistrate Boaz Ombewa.
He was accused that on the night of November 7, 2015. he defiled the girls aged 10, After the girl’s aunt left her alone at home on that day. The aunt has been the girl’s guardian since her mother died when she was a month old.
Source informed the court that Lemayan threatened to kill the girl by hanging her from the roof of the house if she screamed. He tied her hands to her back and defiled her four times.
ASSAULT
Medical records presented in court indicated was consistent with witness accounts and doctors report concluded that the injuries to the child’s genitals could have been caused by forceful and pain penetration indicating the girl was sexually assaulted.
The convict on his defence denied that he had threatened her.
Mr Lemayan denied the charges and told the court that he had been framed and that on that day, he hosted colleagues who had returned from field work in Loiyangalani.
DEFENCE
The court dismissed the defence saying that the minors were consistent in cross examination also witness counts.
The magistrate, however affirmed that prosecution’s evidence was credible and that there was no sign of bad blood between the victim’s family to warrant the allegation of framing.
The convict has 14 days to appeal.
