Four people have been confirmed dead following the on-going rains in North Horr Sub-County within Marsabit County.
A heavy rain is being experienced in the region for the last two nights that posed havoc to the people and their livestock.
Speaking to Radio Jangwani via the phone, Michael Moroto confirmed that the four victims are three sons and their mothers after the Illeret River broke its banks yesterday nights.
“Several homesteads have been destroyed by the floods experienced in the regions; I urge the disaster response agency to quickly intervene.” Said Chief Moroto.
Chief Moroto said that he tried to reach out to Kenya Red Cross but in vain and he’s now urging the county to respond to the calamity since people are stranded with no homes, foods and personal belongings after it was washed away by flood.
“Most of the residents here have taken refuge on tree tops in order to save their lives.” Say’s Chief Moroto.
