Marsabit, Kenya, May 31st – The burial of the late Former Late MP Robert Ltaramatwa Kochalle has been set for Tuesday, June 5th at his home in Nanyuki, Laikipia County, the family has announced.
The former MP for Laisamis Constituency (Marsabit South) Hon. Robert Kochale has passed on at Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi on Tuesday following the long illness.
The late who had previously suffered mild stroke underwent a successful heart operation some two weeks ago before he passed away on that very day.
“The death of Kochalle is a big blow to the Rendille community and entire Marsabit fraternity, he was one of the most respected leaders in the region, Rendille people have lost a great leader,” Say’s Karaba Sahado speaking on Radio Jangwani.
Hundreds of listeners who sent messages of condolences live on air have described the late former MP Robert Kochalle as a dedicated and outspoken leader who always stood for what he believed was good for his constituents and the nation.
On June 11, 2001, Robert Kochalle was appointed among the NDP MPs to the Government of President Moi to serve as the Assistant Minister of State in the office of the president alongside four other MPs in order to the strengthening of the cooperation between KANU and NDP.
The Late Robert Ltaramatwa Kochalle was among the board of Directors at the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB). He previously served as the Assistant Minister for Tourism and Wildlife. Prior to this, he was Member for Parliament for Laisamis Constituency for two terms in the year 1992 and 1997.
He has also served in various other Boards, including Chemilil Sugar Co. Ltd and the Kenya Industrial Research and Development Institute (KIRDI).
