A 68-year-old Gabre Lemita who was among the 5,488 candidates who sat for their KCPE in Marsabit County scored 232 marks in the KCPE exam.
Gabre Lemita, a father of nine and grandfather of 12, sat the exam as a private candidate in Marsabit at the Moyale Township Adult Centre. The county has 131 centres.
He looks forward to going to secondary school and is optimistic of proceeding to college to pursue his dream of an education.
The best pupil in Marsabit got 430 marks. Mohammed Ali was from Moyale Junior Academy, which emerged the best in the county, followed by Hudefya and Moyale Gateway Academy.
A total of 3,419 boys are sitting the exams compared to 2,069 girls.
