MARSABIT COUNTY-Food aid consisting of maize flour, sugar and other assortment of food stuff today reached floods-hit families in Olom village,North Horr sub county.
Speaking in Marsabit when he officially launched distribution of the food and other basic necessicities to residents of Marsabit town Governor Mohammed Ali said the food and other aid were also taken to areas worst hit by the floods in the county.
The Governor said the county government is working closely with Kenya Red Cross in assisting the victims of the floods in entire county by giving them food aid, medications and beddings in towns and interior places in far north.
“We will support families in Dirib Gombo, Nagayo, Mountain, Manyatta Ote Songa and Leiyai, simply we’re in office to support our people in hard times like this and that’s our calling ,” said Ali.
The rescue team led by Marsabit County deputy governor Solomon Gubo took a flight to Olom village in North Horr and delivered food aid and other essential basic needs to the families affected by floods.
Unknown number of livestock were also swept away by floods in same village hence making survival of the victims hard due to starvation.
Governor Ali also sent his message of condolences to family of Nyeri governor Wahome Gakuru who died earlier today after he involved in a grisly road accident heading to Nairobi.
