Three people have Starved to death in Korka village North Horr Sub-county in Marsabit County following a prolong dry spell.
North Horr MCA and Deputy Speaker Sora Guyo claimed that the trio perished as they dry spell continue to wreak havoc for both animals and human in his ward.
He added that the drought continue posing danger to lives and animals which are the sole livelihoods for the residents in the region.
Said he:  ‘’ The three elderly persons were rushed to North Horr Mission Hospital suffering from malnutrition for nutritional care but later passed on,’’.
Addressing media in his office the deputy speaker appealed to the national government humanitarian agencies to come together and help mitigate the drought before more lives are lost.
Mr Sora said that the county assembly will on Tuesday have a special sitting to deliberate on drought menace in the county.
Over 150,000 residents of Marsabit County are reeling from   hunger and starvation due to prolong drought in various parts of the county.
Last week Marsabit governor Ukur Yatani while flagging off 20,000 tonnes of relief food asked the county assembly to suspend some projects and pass supplementary budget to salvage the situation in the devolved unit.
He said he held a cabinet meeting and resolve to half recurrent expenditure to safe people from hunger.
