Caritas Nairobi Drought Response team together with the Caritas Kenya staff,well-wishers and christians donated assorted food stuffs,cooking oil,water and clothes to the drought stricken families in Marsabit County.

Marsabit, the country’s second largest county is currently being ravaged by severe drought. More than 60% of the livestock which include cattle, goats, sheep and camels have already been swept by biting drought.

In neighbouring counties like Isiolo the ravaging drought conditions have intensified the volatile situation between nomadic communities from Isiolo and Wajir County over water and Pasture.

Speaking to Radio Jangwani after receiving the food aid Marsabit Diocese Rt.Rev Peter mentioned that drought is at its peak and the donations arrived in right time.

” In this Lenten period let’s love one another just like what Nairobi christians and other well-wishers did,as we’re praying for rains” Say’s Bishop Kihara.

The 39 tonnes food donations were given out to Caritas Drought Appeal during the Lenten Campaign Launch held on 25th February at University of Nairobi Grounds.

-23 out of 47 counties in Kenya have been affected by the drought.

-The situation is rapidly deteriorating.
